Johnny Cash at the Detroit Institue of Arts

Friday, Jan. 10, musicians from Nashville and Detroit joined together to celebrate the late Johnny Cash at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Fans gathered around from all over the Metro-Detroit area to hear their favorite songs like Ring of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues. They performed in the Detroit Industry Mural room painted by Diego Rivera. Wayne State Music Business student Genna MacPhee’s father performed alongside the band playing the stand-up bass. The lead singer imitating Johnny Cash is also a Detroit native. The concert was great and the acoustics within the DIA were spectacular. Johnny Cash has been inducted into the Country Hall of Fame, the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and the Gospel Hall of fame.
